Alastair Heseltine was born in England where he trained in traditional willow work and basketmaking in the 1970’s. He moved to Hornby Island BC where he has established himself as an artist-craftsman making contemporary articles of utility and ornament for home and garden. His work is mostly made from willow that he grows and cultivates himself. Since 2000 he has extended his work further from its traditional roots by including other materials and by making both interior sculpture and land art installations. His most recent public work is the 40′ Snake commissioned for The Year of the Snake for the Dr. SunYatSen Garden in Vancouver.
