ROADSIDE ATTRACTION is a rollicking exhibition of the fantastical work of Judson Beaumont—designer and fabricator of wildly imaginative furniture and playspaces. Fresh from a show in Los Angeles, a gig in New Mexico, and projects in Dubai, Judson is coming to Salt Spring with a high impact show including some of his most popular classics, such as the Little Black Dresser and colour-changing Tree Rings. The show will feature his latest designs of house shelves, pet trailers, hollow chairs and jumping cabinets as well as a display of his unique storyboarding process.
An artist whose slogan is ‘making quirk work,’ Judson Beaumont is a creative force ten in the international design world.
The man behind the mania:
Judson Beaumont went straight from Emily Carr School of Art and Design to Straight Line Designs where for over 30 years he has designed and constructed furniture, sculptures and installations for exhibitions and commissions all over the world. A long-time denizen of the Vancouver downtown east side art scene at 1000 Parker Street, he is a recipient of the BC Achievement Award and a generous patron of Arts Umbrella and Artists for Kids Foundation in Vancouver.
A ROADSIDE ATTRACTION opens at the Duthie Gallery Saturday, July 2nd with an artist reception from 5 to 9pm. and runs through August 1st.
