Birgit Piskor

Birgit Piskor was born in the town of Calw, in the Black Forest region of Germany. Her family immigrated to Victoria and she has lived and worked there ever since, creating an astonishing collection of enticing sinuous concrete forms reaching as high as 8’, in her family house and garden in James Bay and in houses and gardens worldwide.

Her sculptures are hand-built on steel armatures layered with hand-mixed modified concrete. She works the industrial essence of concrete into striking and surprising shapes and textures and she achieves flowing sensual organic forms which express a visceral experience of beauty.
